I'm setting up my Canvia for the first time

Select from the below for instructions on how to set up your Canvia for the first time.

If it takes more than 15-20 mins in the setup or registration process using mobile app, please connect with support@canvia.art for immediate help

(Note: Mobile app is preferred method but you can also register the device using Desktop app(sometimes suggested if there are consistent wifi network issues), Check Here)

1. Remove your Canvia from the packaging. The power cable, hinge, screws and adapter (depending on region) will be in a smaller box.

2. Connect the power cable at the back and plug the Canvia device into a mains socket.

3. You will first see a splash screen with the Canvia logo.

4. After a few moments, an artwork will appear and you'll see this message in the top right of the screen. This indicates that Canvia is in AP(Access Point) mode.

 

To reset your device: 

If you need to reset your device and return to AP mode at any point during setup, press and release (quickly) the square black button (on a white base), recessed within hole, as shown in the picture) 4-5 times very quickly. You will need the front tip of a pen to press this button.

Note this reset button is next to the visible round black button that is not recessed. If you are able to press with your fingers, then its wrong button.

​

5. You are now ready to register your device. Download the Canvia app via the Play Store (for Android) or App Store (iOS) - search for "Canvia" or "Canvia Experience" or "Canvia art"

1. Log into the Canvia app with your account username and password - if you have not yet registered an account, you can do so via the app itself by clicking on ‘Sign up’ or via Canvia website.

​

Enter a First Name, Last Name, Email address and account password and select 'Next'

​

Tap on “Not yet” if you have not previously own a Canvia device

​

Next, when this screen shows, tap on “Next” and follow the next instructions on the screen.

Android 13 or below:

2.
Click on the 'Open Settings' button on the next screen to open the WiFi Settings of your smartphone(Android 13 or below)
 

Find your Canvia device under Networks (listed as 'Canvia-AP-...') and select this
 

Return to the app by pressing 'Canvia' or the return arrow in the top left corner of your smartphone's Settings screen. Then select 'Continue'

Note A: Please enable location for Canvia app as required and also allow "connect only this time" so that mobile phone can connect to Canvia device as per the screenshot below.

Android 14 or above:

Click on the 'Open Settings' button on the next screen to open the WiFi Settings of your smartphone(Android 14 or above)

A bottom sheet will appear where you will find your Canvia device under Networks (listed as 'Canvia-AP-...') and select done as shown below in image b
(It will display no internet access but that is normal and for your convenience switch on your carrier network)
 

Then select 'Continue'

4. Enter the name and password of the WiFi network you want to use with Canvia and select 'Join'. In the following pop-up box select 'Join' to confirm to confirm -"Canvia" wants to join WiFi network "Canvia-ap-hgkfdb".












 

Note B:

if WiFi name or WiFi password is not correct, app will flag the issue, please recheck the wifi credentials if you see the message as shown below.












 

5. A message will appear to verify whether the device is already registered or not, if not registered then it will display the message (We were not able to detect Canvia Device in your home network. Please ensure you are connected to your Wi-Fi for internet connection. Please click Refresh and wait for device discovery.MAC ID: …..)
 

 Enter the desired device name if not registered and then click “Refresh” button.
 

 A pop-up message will appear (The Canvia device is not registered, please register this device after naming your device below.
 

Enter the desired name to register the device which will also display your MAC ID, Now Click “NEXT” and then a pop-up message will appear (Device Registered Successfully).

 

Note B: If MAC is showing but IP address is not appearing then Frame is connected to your smartphone but not connected to WiFi and their may be numerous reasons (Firewall blocked from the router side or Antivirus which is installed on your PC/Laptop has enabled the firewall etc.) in this case please contact customer support.

Note C: on some smartphones, after entering the WiFi network/password in the app an error message might show up on the next page even though connection was successful: “Oops! It looks like you’re not connected to a Canvia Device.” In this instance, it only means that your Canvia device is not registered yet. 

6. In this case, when the home page shows up normally, register your device by tapping on “Canvas” on the bottom.
After you have tapped on “Canvas,” go to “Register Device” and on the following Register Device screen, enter a name for your device and select 'Next'
Once registered, you'll see the final message of "You’ve successfully connected to the Canvia Device,”

7. Once registered, you will see all settings parameters such as as Device name,Status etc. will populate on your screen and device will be ready to use.

You will land on page b (as shown below, which contains loctaion settings), press back and you will land to new page c(shown below), again press back and you will be on Settings page d (as shown below)
